ECSRHM December 2023 Newsletter
Dear Diplomates and Residents
Hope you are safe and warm in your respective countries and are looking forward to some time with family and friends as 2023 draws to a close. As before, we thought you might be interested in receiving some news from your college.
New College Diplomates!
First, our biggest congratulations to Victoria Balasopoulou and Mike Evans, as they have passed their qualifying exam and have now become Diplomates of the ECSRHM. Well done on this fantastic achievement! Thanks also to the Examination committee (Snorre, Jarek and Julio), to Michal as observer and to Delia and Esther for joining this year as replacement for Katja and Neil (congratulations to them too as Victoria and Mike’s supervisors). It was for sure hard work but, as you can see, hopefully a bit of fun too!
Residents Committee
We are also very pleased to announce that Eva Roden has taken on the position of chair of the Residents committee. She has already been present at two of our board meetings and her (and the residents she represents) views are very much needed, so please keep talking to each other and bring up any issues to us.
Residents Logbooks and Supervisor’s Reports
May we also remind all the residents (and their supervisors) that the deadline to submit your case logbook and progress report to the Education committee is the 15th January, 2024 and you should send them to the Secretary (moc.liamg @ue.mhrsce). For those wishing to sit the exam in 2024, the deadline for sending your credentials to the Secretary (moc.liamg @ue.mhrsce) is the 1st of March 2024.
New Webinar Series
You will be pleased to know that a new webinar series entitled “Neonatal disease in lambs and kids” will start on 17th January 2024, thanks to our dedicated webinar gurus Teresa and Kim. We would also like to thank René on giving us updates on the difficult situation many farmers and vets are facing with BTV3 across Europe. The recordings of his webinar will be posted on the ECSRHM website.
Diplomate Recertification 2024
The Credentials committee will likely be busy in 2024, as quite a few Diplomates are due for recertification. The team is also looking into reviewing guidelines and templates to make the whole process even smoother. A quick reminder that all documents will be due to the Secretary (ecsrhm.eu@gmail.com) on or before 31st July.
College 5-Year Recertification
As mentioned in the previous newsletter, one of our main tasks was the submission of the 5-year college recertification and thanks so much to our Secretary, Paula, for getting everything polished and ready for the deadline. We are now waiting to hear the reviewers’ comments and we should receive a final decision at the next EBVS meeting (11th-12th April).
EBVS News
Paula, Jarek, Eva and myself took part at the last EBVS meeting (14th-15th November.). Some points that might be of interest for everyone were the discussion of the double diplomate status, the Erasmus+ project called “I-Restart”, the EBVS regular social media posts and the ongoing work on recognition of our specializations by different national veterinary authorities and at an EU level. To note is also the new EBVS website (https://www.ebvs.eu). Can we remind you all to login and update your photos and bios. This will improve our visibility and advocacy for the College and for yourselves, as the EBVS website can be used to promote us to the outside world.
ECSRHM AGM and Conference, July 2024
Finally, mark your calendars as the next AGM and conference will be in Turin in collaboration with the “Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale del Piemonte, Liguria e Valle d’Aosta” on 4th-5th July 2024. The AGM can be attended virtually, while the conference will be in person only. More details to follow.
I would like to take this occasion to wish you all a fantastic Christmas and Happy New Year and thank you for the support to our friendly college. As usual, if you have any concerns or just need to contact us, please do so through our official email address moc.liamg @ue.mhrsce.
