The FVE/UEVP Medicines Working Group is launching an exciting new initiative: mapping essential veterinary medicines across Europe. We are starting with sheep and goats and are looking for small ruminants experts from different European countries to join this ambitious effort!

🔹 Why is this important?
Many European countries face critical shortages of veterinary medicines, particularly for minor species and minor uses. Some medicines are available in other countries, while others are entirely lacking. These gaps directly impact animal health, welfare, and veterinary public health.

🔹 What will we do?
FVE is developing Essential Medicines Lists, categorised by species and by country. These lists will:
✅ Identify key medicines that should be available for veterinary use
✅ Guide marketing authorisation holders and authorities to address availability issues
✅ Build on existing references like the WVA and WSAVA essential medicines lists and France’s RSFA lists

🔹 How can you contribute?
We are starting by creating a sheep and goat task force. We want to learn which essential medicines are lacking in your country. To do so, we will hold some online meetings and work via email. If you are a small ruminant expert and want to help improve veterinary medicine availability across Europe, we need you!
