Bluetongue serotype 12 reported in the Netherlands

On October 11th, 2024 the Dutch Ministry has announced that bluetongue virus serotype 12 has been detected in the Netherlands.  It has been found in a sheep (including a ram that had been vaccinated twice against BTV-3) and a cattle farm in the centre of the country. (Note: this is a new variant of BTV and is unrelated to BTV-3)
