Graduated in veterinary medicine from Trinity College, Dublin. Obtained FRCVS by thesis - A study of respiratory disease in housed fattening lambs - in 1991. Obtained masters degree in business administration - MBA - from Ulster University in 1995. Last three professional posts were in reverse order - veterinary centre manager at SRUC's disease surveillance centre in Ayr, Scotland; director of veterinary science Norbrook laboratories; and head of disease surveillance and investigation branch at the agri-food and biosciences institute for Northern Ireland. Now "retired" since October 2017, but open to offers!
Publications include respiratory disease is sheep, caseous lymphadenitis, tuberculosis and bog asphodel photosensitisation. Most can be found via PubMed or Google.
